Campgrounds

Clark’s Ferry Recreation Area

Clark’s Ferry is an 11 acre, Class A campground located along the banks of the Mississippi River just east of Muscatine. It is easily accessible from Highway 22.

This facility offers 45 camp sites operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is surrounded by large mature trees along the Iowa side of the Upper Mississippi River. Clarks Ferry has fantastic bird watching and lots of shore fishing opportunities. The park has plenty of trees to lounge under while taking in the spectacular views of the mighty Mississippi River.

Take the kids to one of the two playgrounds, play a game of horseshoes or go boating. The Mississippi River draws crowds of anglers for channel catfish, bluegill, walleye, crappie and northern pike. For  further park information, contact (563) 263-7913.

 

Fairport Recreation Area

Situated between the Mississippi River and Highway 22. This facility covers 17 acres with 42 sites. Fairport Recreational Area is 6 miles from Wildcat Den State Park and about 7 miles east of the City of Muscatine. The campground offers campsites with electrical hook-ups, modern restroom and shower facilities, as well as a trailer dump station.

There are three boat ramps available at the Fairport area and provide plenty of boating access to the “Father of Waters.”  There are also courtesy docks for loading and unloading boats. The Fairport Recreation Area provides excellent access and viewing of the Mississippi River. The large towboats, recreational boaters, river wildlife (especially birds) and the majesty of the river all parade in front of the campground. To make reservations, call 877-IAPARKS

 

Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area

This Muscatine County Park is located 8 miles northwest of Muscatine, along the Cedar River, and is accessible from North Mulberry Avenue. Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area, which is managed by the Muscatine County Conservation Board (MCCB), covers 675 acres. It has three campgrounds with a combined total of 33 sites and a tent area, each managed under a self-registration system. Campsites cannot be reserved and are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.

Firewood is available in the main campground for a fee. No out-of-state firewood is allowed in MCCB areas. Campsites have picnic tables, fire rings, and on-site parking. Tent camping sites do not have on-site parking. For more information call (563) 264-5922 during business hours. 

 

Shady Creek Campground

22-acre park where campers enjoy the Mississippi River and its surroundings. The facility is accessible from Highway 22 which is part of the Great River Road and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A nature trail, shore fishing and bird watching are offered at Shady Creek.The park has spectacular views of the Mississippi River. Many trees throughout the campground provide an opportunity to lounge in the shade.

The Mississippi River draws many anglers annually. The most popular fish species is the channel catfish; bluegill, walleye and northern pike are also found in the river. Picnicking and playing horseshoes is a popular activity in the park. The park’s 53 campsites contain 50-amp electric hookups, campfire rings and picnic tables. Wildcat Den State Park

Wildcat Den State Park offers 27 campsites situated within a picturesque pine forest.The park is located one mile from Iowa Hwy 22 between Muscatine and Davenport. There’s plenty to do and see. One of the major features of Wildcat Den State Park is the trail system. Trails wind through a variety of terrain and lead to such fascinating sites as “Steamboat Rock”, “Devil’s Punch Bowl” and “Fat Man’s Squeeze”. The majestic cliffs are composed of 300 million year-old sandstone and provide spectacular views for hikers. Campsites can be reserved in the non-modern campground which has water and vault toilets.
