POSITION:                Summer Intern for Events and Digital Marketing

REPORTS TO:          President & CEO and Director of Events and Tourism Marketing

STATUS:                    Part Time / Non-Exempt

BASE SALARY:        Hourly Payment

 

Position Description

The internship will provide the applicant with valuable, real-world experience in the field of tourism, marketing and communications, as well as the opportunity to assist in planning and execution of special events.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Content creation for digital and print mediums
  • Social media management
  • Distribution of a weekly e-newsletter
  • Performing research and administration tasks
  • Event planning assistance and execution of GMCCI’s signature events
  • Communicate and coordinate with volunteers, businesses, and general public

Desired Characteristics & Requirements

  • Well-versed in multiple social media platforms
  • Familiar with design tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite
  • Strong attention to detail, self-starter and desire to learn
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Comfortable communicating with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent customer service skills and ease working with the general public
  • Must be flexible, energetic and be able to work on festival dates

PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS: Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (15-25 pounds).

The Events and Digital Marketing Internship opportunity will ideally begin May 26, 2026 and is available through August 15, 2026. However, the start and end dates are negotiable based on school schedule. The estimated hours per week will range between 20-25 hours and some evenings and weekends are expected. A priority given to upperclassman taking the internship for class credit. Candidates working toward marketing, communications, or design degrees are highly encouraged to submit their resume and cover letter by email.
