Young Professionals network

The Muscatine Young Professionals Network (YPN) is a personal and professional development organization designed to allow members to interact socially, exchange ideas, share common interests, and build a better Muscatine community. YPN Muscatine celebrates its 15 year anniversary in 2020 and has been active in an effort to define a new organization within the Muscatine community since its inception.

The Young Professionals Network is a personal and professional development organization designed to allow members to interact socially, exchange ideas, share common interests, and build a better Muscatine community.

 

History

Corporations, small businesses, the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GMCCI), and young professionals in Muscatine were looking to establish a community-wide network for young professionals. Five individuals attended the 2005 Young Professionals of Iowa Conference to learn and benchmark on other Iowa communities’ YP initiatives. On November 17, 2005, YPN held its kick-off event and the group continues to grow.

 

What YPN Does

Since its founding, YPN has engaged in numerous community improvement activities, hosted monthly social and networking events, held family fun events, completed annual outreach surveys of young professionals, and developed relationships with Muscatine businesses.  For YPs who are new to Muscatine, YPN provides an opportunity for volunteer activities, networking and community building.  For YPs returning to Muscatine, YPN provides an opportunity to reconnect with their hometown, build relationships and network.

 

The Team

There are approximately 400 young professionals in our network to date. Of these 400, approximately 25 are dedicated to ensuring YPN’s success by providing leadership on committees and volunteering an extraordinary amount of their time and energy to YPN activities. YPN has four standing committees with the chairs of those committees serving on the Leadership Council- Social, Community and Professional Development, Membership and Public Relations. YPN’s Leadership Council drives the overall strategy and direction of the group. The Leadership Council is made up of seven individuals who live/work in Muscatine and represent a diverse cross-section of YPs.

Who is eligible to join YPN?

Typically when we think of a young professional (YP), we think of someone between the ages of 21 and 39. BUT, if you’re passionate about business, networking, professional development, and the Muscatine community, feel free to join us!

 

How much does it cost?

A typical membership is $50 per year; but if your employer is a member of the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry, you may be eligible for a discount. Email us here to find out more.
